The first thing you need to consider is the processor (CPU).

The processor determines how fast or slow your computer will be. The common processors you would of seen are:

  • Intel i3
  • Intel i5
  • Intel i7

A good business computer will need an Intel i5 processor.

Secondly, Memory also known as (RAM)

Memory looks after multi-tasking, if you want to open your emails, google chrome, a couple of spreadsheets and teams, well you are going to need some memory to assist you, when you are buying a new computer you will see computers with memory sizes such as:

  • 4GB
  • 8GB
  • 16GB

A good business computer should have at least 8GB of memory.

Next, The Hard Drive and it's capacity.

The Hard Drive is where you store all your files and software, when you are buying a new computer you will see Hard Drive spaces such as these:

  • 128GB SSD
  • 256GB SSD
  • 500GB SATA
  • 1TB SATA

The bigger the drive, the more it can hold. But a quick tip, you want to buy a computer with an SSD and not a SATA.  SSD stands for Solid Stade Drive and they work much faster than the old SATA drives. For your business you want the 256GB SSD as standard.

In Fourth place, we have Operating System.

The operating system is what runs your PC, the brain if you will. Some of the operating systems you may of heard of:

  • Windows 7
  • Windows 8
  • Windows 10 Home
  • Windows 10 Professional

All new laptops will have Windows 10 installed on them, but you need to make sure that it is Windows 10 professional for your business. If you are still running Windows 7 in your business, you need to get in contact with your IT Support immediately.

This is what we recommend all of our customers have for their business.

If you were going to buy a Standard Business computer that will perform well, you should be looking for:

  • Intel i5 Processor
  • 8GB Memory
  • 256GB SSD Hard Drive
  • Windows 10 Professional
